Feeling that drives

I happen to be working on a bunch of video projects at the moment and I’ve noticed something. It’s a feeling that is somewhat terrifying, but it’s probably one of the things that really drives me. This feeling comes up whenever I start a shoot, whether it is photo or video. Continue reading

Walk through Amsterdam

20140202_walk_willem_DAK_5697_publishBlogToday I had a nice walk through Amsterdam with my good buddy Willem. This was kind of a rare occasion, since we usually (always) cycle through Amsterdam. Today however, Willem had a flat tire and we didn’t feel like fixing it. So instead, we decided to go on foot. Continue reading

New farmhouse

20131222_home_lexwieke_DAK_3907_publishBlogJust a little time ago an uncle of mine and his wife decided to buy an old farm house. The house is pretty dope, but it seems like it could collapse any moment. Fortunately, that’s not my problem and he really loves working on projects like that.

Anyway, I went to see that house a week or so ago and took a couple of shots. I think there’s some cool ones among them, but obviously I’d like to hear your opinion. Please let me know which shots you like and why. Continue reading

On the go

MotorcycleFor those of you who have been paying attention to my blog, it shouldn’t be a surprise I carry my camera around a lot. I barely ever go anywhere without my camera bag. I’ve been doing this for a long while (a few years) and the reason is basically: you never know what you’re going to walk into. Right? And it works. Every now and then I come across some wonderful lighting, a wacko composition or just some dope object. Whenever that happens I’m way too grateful I have my camera with me. Of course, if for some reason I don’t have it with me, I always have an iPhone in my pocket that can serve as a substitute. (“The best camera is the one that’s with you”, props to Chase Jarvis) Continue reading

Inactivity

Hi there folks,

To all of you out there who’ve been paying attention to my blog, it shouldn’t be a surprise that I’ve been rather inactive over the last few months. Please let me explain to you what has been happening (and is still happening to some extent right now). I finished high school somewhere in July, which basically meant a long ass break for me. I was on some lovely holidays to Vlieland (Netherlands), London, several cities in Italy and even Hong Kong and Bali (Indonesia) during that break. Obviously I’ve taken a shit load of pictures during those holidays, but that also meant a lot of work to sort all the photos and edit them if necessary. Most of the photos are up now, I’m only still working on the photos from Bali and Hong Kong (and I might publish some additional photos from the other holidays). Continue reading

A or B?

AorBOr ┬áneiter of the two? I’m not too sure, so I’m once again calling for your help. I shot both of these photos a few days ago in Delft at the very edge of the University of Technology campus. Please let me know what you think, do you like any of these photos and if so, which one do you prefer? Thanks for helping me!

As you might know I’ve been extremely inactive for the past months, I’ll have a post on that soon. Continue reading

[Solution] Deconstruct this photo

Solved deconstruction

For those of you who have read my recent blog post in which I asked you to deconstruct a certain photo, well here’s the solution. It wasn’t even a really fancy setup, but the outcome was quite fancy in fact. Keep in mind that the theme for this photo was the other side. That made me think about mirrors instantly, within a day or so I had thought about a ton of different things I could do with mirrors, but I wanted more. That’s when I thought about the other side of a camera, the side that you usually don’t see. After those two ideas had been on my mind for a little while, I figured out how to combine the two. Continue reading

NDSM shipyard

GraffitiNow that the majority of the school related stress is gone (there’s some more to come in the coming weeks, but it’s nice and easy at the moment), I was finally able to hang out with my buddy Willem again. We had a great day, cycled over 80 kilometers, and shot some photos here and there. Continue reading

Video collabs

baginXdanielFor those who have been paying attention to my website and blog, it won’t be a surprise that I’m into photography. Though, not only photography, but also video attracts my attention. The only problem is, that I’m not great at editing video. Sure, I could learn that, but that will take some time. So, it would actually be very convenient if there was someone who could take care of that part of the process. Continue reading

Deconstruct this photo

The other sideI recently participated in a photo contest at my school. The winners (two of ‘em) would be taking part in the Artistic Interlyceals (literal translation warning there). These Artistic Interlyceals, which I’ll refer to as artistic battle from now on, are tournaments that are held every year by the four oldest lyceums (high schools) of the Netherlands. This year they were held on our school. Continue reading
